Announcing a New IHIP Webinar Series:
Innovations in Oral Health Care
The HRSA SPNS Integrating HIV Innovative Practices (IHIP) Webinar series on Innovations in Oral Health Care will begin December 13.The Webinar series will feature grantees of this Special Projects of National Significance (SPNS) initiative sharing lessons learned and advice for others hoping to create or expand similar oral health programs. The series will include three sessions:
1st Webinar: Health Mouth, Healthy Body: The Vital Role of Oral Health Care in Overall Well-being for PLWHA
December 13th at 1 PM EST
This Webinar will provide an overview of common oral health barriers for people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) and the importance of overcoming these barriers. It will also share some of the ways HRSA has helped link PLWHA to oral health care, including the SPNS Oral Health Initiative. To learn more about this initiative, please visit:
2nd Webinar: Dental Case Management

This Webinar will outline dental case management (DCM) programs at the Native American Health Center in San Francisco and AIDS Care Group in Chester, PA. The presenters will detail the pros, cons, and considerations of DCM from administrative and clinical perspectives. Presenters will also provide tips for being a good dental case manager and how this can result in improved health outcomes.
3rd Webinar: Clinical Aspects of Oral Health Care for PLWHA

This Webinar will explore the clinical aspects of oral health care for PLWHA. The presenters will detail common oral health diseases
among HIV-infected people, as well as the prevention, detection, and treatment of these diseases.
Good oral health is an important part of good overall health and general well-being. New York has made great progress is reducing dental diseases and conditions through important prevention measures and innovative community strategies, yet there is more to be done. During the week of October 7 – October 11, 2013, SCAA and partners held a series of webinars on oral health topics for a wide variety of community partners, oral health and medical practitioners and health departments about new initiatives, best practices and the latest research on oral health. Sponsored by the Schuyler Center for Analysis and Advocacy (SCAA), the NYS Department of Health and the NYS Oral Health Coalition.
